This comic strip is based on news reports that I have come across in the previous months. They became a starting point for this work as I got intrigued by the existing socio political scenario. The questions regarding minorities, caste, animal issues and the people in power seemed to be entangled in an absurd theatricality of events without any solution. In this comic strip I have depicted this situation with images of some iconic characters and others; engaged in actions, which have interlinked causes and are a part of the collective psyche.

Shrimanti Saha completed her BVA and MVA from M.S. University, Baroda, India. She received the Inlaks Fine Arts award (2015) and has been part of group shows at Vadehra Art gallery, New Delhi (2016); Nature Morte, Gurgaon (2014); Gallerie 88, Kolkata (2014) and others. Her practice is very much rooted in the act of drawing, storytelling and creating a personal mythology. The artist lives and works in Baroda.
